$249, Every Year, Without a Discount Year

The rate for agent service at LegalZoom is $249 a year. The charge repeats on its own, and a July 2026 look turned up no introductory figure, no bundled first year, and no tier where the number comes down. Whatever else you can say about the pricing, it is consistent: the figure you pay in year one is the figure you pay in year six.

Set that against what Nevada itself collects. Your LLC owes the state $350 a year, made up of the $150 Annual List and the $200 State Business License required by NRS 76.100. LegalZoom's agent fee alone runs to roughly seven tenths of the entire state bill, for a job Nevada describes in a single clause: keep a street address in this state, be there during business hours, hand over what arrives.

Nevada Gives You a Third Option, and We Will Say So

Most states let a qualifying person serve as a company's own agent, and Nevada goes further than most in how it structures that. A Nevada entity with a physical address in the state may appoint itself by naming a specific office or position inside the company, according to the Secretary of State's own guidance. The role belongs to the position rather than to a person who might quit.

The catch is practical, not legal. That Nevada street address becomes part of the public filing, visible to anybody who pulls your company up in the state's business search, and somebody has to actually be at it through the working day, because a process server who finds a locked door is still going to serve your company one way or another. Owners running a Nevada LLC from California or Texas do not have the address to begin with, and owners working out of a spare bedroom usually decide they would rather not publish it. But for a Nevada business with a real storefront and a front desk, self-service is a genuine option and the price is zero.

Nevada moves an agent appointment with one document, which the state calls the Registered Agent Acceptance and Statement of Change, and the Secretary of State charges $60 to file it. Your incoming agent has to sign an acceptance on the same form, which is the state's way of making sure the seat is filled before the old occupant leaves it.
